A simple weekly rhythm built from those spots keeps your preschooler engaged without burning everyone out by Tuesday.

Park Square Splash Pad Fountain in FishHawk

The splash-pad fountain at Park Square is the easiest summer win in FishHawk. It’s free, it’s open all season, and it’s surrounded by shops and benches that make it just as much a parent break as a kid activity. You can park, walk over, and have your preschooler in the spray within five minutes of leaving the house.

Bring a towel and an extra outfit. Park Square is the kind of spot where one quick stop turns into ice cream, then a walk, then “can we go back to the water?” That’s the right amount of outdoor playtime, and it makes for the easy summer afternoon you can repeat all season. For a small learning moment, point to one of the fountain jets and have your kiddo guess which color the spray will catch in the light. Preschoolers love being given a tiny detective job, and the answers usually come out funnier than you’d expect.

Camptastic Summer Camp at Our FishHawk Campus

When your preschooler grows into kindergarten and beyond, our Camptastic summer camp picks up where their preschool summer leaves off. Built for ages 6 to 12, the camp runs all season at our FishHawk campus with rotating weekly themes.

Bright Idea has campers pitching their own inventions and building robots. Fizzy Labs turns the day into a hands-on science lab with slime, edible chemistry, and freeze-out experiments. It’s a Bug’s Life sends explorers outside on guided trails and Build-a-Bug workshops. Wonder Island brings stranded-on-an-island team challenges, water games, and a Lemonade Days fundraiser for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Game Changers turns the camp into a life-size board game.

FishHawk Ranch Food Truck Rallies

FishHawk Ranch hosts food truck rallies a few times a year, about once a quarter, and the summer one is the easiest way to skip cooking dinner without driving out of the neighborhood. Trucks roll into the Osprey Club from 5 to 8 p.m. on rally night, and the spread covers everything from chicken sandwiches to shaved ice. Admission is free, the layout is pet- and kid-friendly, and the green stays wide open for running around.

Pack a blanket and let your preschooler wander while you wait in line. The rally is one of the few summer outings that runs late enough to count as dinner but wraps up well before bedtime starts to wobble. Use the wait as a counting game. Try asking, “How many trucks can you count?” or “Which one has the longest line?” Your preschooler practices numbers and observation while you order dinner.

Alafia River State Park Easy Trails Near Lithia

About fifteen minutes south of FishHawk Boulevard, Alafia River State Park in Lithia has the rare combination of “wild enough to feel like an adventure” and “tame enough for a preschooler.” The trailhead has a real playground and two large covered picnic shelters, and the easier short loops wind through pine flatwoods and hardwood forest before bringing you back to the car.

Stick to the playground and the first half mile of trail. That’s plenty for a preschooler who’s still building stamina, and there’s enough shade that even a humid morning stays manageable. Let your child try to spot something living that isn’t a tree. Lizards, beetles, hawks, and the occasional armadillo all make appearances. Make the walk back a treasure hunt by giving your kiddo one specific thing to find, a feather, a small smooth stone, a leaf with a notch in it.

Pair an Alafia trip with Hike by Pete Oswald, a nearly wordless picture book that follows a parent and child up a trail in the same easy looking-and-pointing rhythm a preschooler brings to the real thing.

Bloomingdale Regional Library Storytime Near FishHawk

Once the afternoon hits, the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library becomes the smartest twenty-five thousand square feet in the FishHawk area. The Children’s Room has kid-sized tables, kid-configured computers, and a colorful glass entry built for preschool-age browsing. The free storytime program runs for ages 3 to 6 with books, rhymes, and songs in the McLean Family Community Room.

A library trip during a Florida summer is a win on every level. Air conditioning, a quiet space, vocabulary practice, and the small thrill of letting your child pick out their own books.
