Wonder Island sends campers through team challenges and a Splash Spectacular water day. Fizzy Labs leans into slime science and kitchen chemistry. Bright Idea hands kids the chance to invent, pitch, and build something of their own on a Sell It! day. Lemonade Days raises money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a cause we get behind every summer.

Preschool Storytime at the Southeast Branch Library

When the afternoon turns heavy and outside stops being fun, the smart move is somewhere with air conditioning and a low bar for behavior. The Southeast Branch of the Orange County Library System runs a preschool storytime on Wednesday mornings at 11:15, with songs, picture books, and rhymes that build early literacy while your kid thinks it’s all just fun.

Even if you miss storytime, the children’s area is a low-pressure place for your preschooler to flop down with a stack of books and cool off. Let your child pick the books this time, and see what they reach for.

Jay Blanchard Park and the Little Econ Greenway

Right off Dean Road, a few minutes from the Cypress Springs campus, Jay Blanchard Park spreads across more than 400 acres along the Little Econ River. Two playgrounds, long stretches of shade, picnic pavilions, and a paved greenway make it an easy place to spend a morning before the sun gets serious. The trail is stroller-friendly, so younger siblings can ride while your preschooler walks, runs, and stops to inspect every lizard along the way.

The river is the real draw for curious kids. You’ll spot turtles, wading birds, and the occasional canoe slipping past. See if your child can name three living things near the water, then count how many they find by the time you loop back. The greenway runs all the way through the park, so you can do a short out-and-back or stretch it as far as little legs will go.
