The weekly Avalon Park Farmers Market runs every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Town Park, near Sweet Birch Drive and Avalon Park East Boulevard. Kids can practice counting strawberries, point at colors they recognize, and decide which kind of bread to bring home for lunch.

A market is also a low-stakes way to teach social confidence. Let your preschooler hand the money to a vendor and say thank you. The first three times they’ll mumble. By the fifth time, they’ll be ordering you a smoothie.
