Family-Friendly Annual Events in Leander

Creative world school Jun 12, 2025

Hey Leander parents! If you’re looking for fun ways to keep the kids smiling and your weekends full, you’re in the right place. Our hometown has a year-round lineup of family-friendly festivals and seasonal celebrations that are big on fun, easy on the wallet, and perfect for making lasting memories. Let’s dive into the annual events that make Leander such a special place to raise a family!

Spring Family Events in Leander: Egg Hunts, Kites, and Outdoor Fun

When the wildflowers bloom, Leander springs to life with playful events perfect for preschoolers. Start with the Mason Heritage Day at the historic Mason Homestead. Your kids can try candle-making, watch blacksmith demos, and even plant seeds like tiny pioneers! It’s a hands-on history lesson disguised as playtime.

Next, don’t miss the Spring Fling Festival! Imagine your child’s eyes lighting up as they meet the Easter Bunny, hunt for eggs, and—wait for it—ride a real unicorn. Yes, it’s as magical as it sounds! Free bounce houses and bubble stations make this a must-do.

Windy day? Grab a kite and head to the Leander Kite Festival at Devine Lake Park. Watching colorful kites dance in the sky is pure joy for little ones. Pack a picnic and let them sprint freely in the open grass!

Summer Festivals in Leander: Parades, Fireworks, and Family Fun

Summer in Leander means sunshine and nonstop smiles! Kick things off at the Old Town Street Festival in June. Stroll through bustling streets with live music, a petting zoo, and pony rides. The Kids Zone is a wonderland of games and crafts. No entry fee required!

Then, celebrate July 4th at Liberty Fest, Leander’s biggest party! Kids bounce through inflatable obstacle courses, snack on snow cones, and ooh-and-ahh at the fireworks show. Arrive early with blankets to snag a lakeside spot!

Fall Activities in Leander: Art, Pumpkins, and Halloween Fun

As leaves crunch underfoot, Leander’s fall events blend creativity and cozy fun. At the Bluegrass & Folk Festival, tap your toes to live music while kids play in a dedicated fun zone.

Last year, families had a blast at Leander’s fall favorites, and while exact dates for this year haven’t been announced yet, they’re usually shared after summer wraps up. ArtFest: Fall Fantasy Festival transformed the sculpture garden into a whimsical storybook world where little pirates and fairies explored, painted, and played with giant bubbles. The Floating Pumpkin Patch was another big hit, letting kids “fish” for pumpkins in the pool before decorating their soggy prize with glitter and stickers. For Halloween, the Tricks & Treats Spooktacular brought just the right amount of spooky-sweet fun with safe trick-or-treating, a friendly maze, and a costume contest full of giggles. Be sure to bookmark Leander’s special events calendar for this year’s event details.

Winter Celebrations in Leander: Tree Lightings, Santa Visits, and Holiday Magic

December in Leander has that small-town magic that makes the holidays feel extra special. Old Town comes to life with the Christmas Festival, complete with a hometown parade, carnival rides, and Santa sightings that kids talk about for weeks. The tree lighting is a must. It’s the kind of thing that makes you feel lucky to live here. And just down the road in Cedar Park, the Holiday Tree Lighting turns Veterans Memorial Park into a winter wonderland, with 50,000 lights on a massive oak tree, “snow” play for the kids, holiday movies under the stars, and Santa waving from his sleigh.
