Do Creative World Schools have internet viewing available for parents?

At this time, we are not confident in the security of this type of monitoring. We believe very strongly in the confidentiality and privacy of our children and families. As this technology progresses, we will investigate integrating it into our programs. We do, however, encourage parents to view their children within the classroom at any time. We have monitoring systems in every day care center and parents are welcome to come in and observe their child. In addition, we place viewing windows throughout our building, in between classrooms, so there is plenty of opportunity to observe and monitor classrooms.

Can I bring my child's favorite toy from home?

During your child's transition to the day care center or a new classroom, they are welcome to bring a security toy such as a stuffed animal or special blanket to be used during naptime to help comfort them until they are more familiar with their new school. Occasionally your child's teacher may request that families bring a special book or prop to share with the class that supports the classroom theme investigation.

Creative World Teaching Philosophy

What is Creative World's guidance policy?

Our discipline of children provides for positive guidance, redirection, and the setting of limits. When children receive positive, non-violent and understanding interactions from adults and peers, they develop good self-concepts, problem-solving abilities, and self-discipline. Based on this belief, we do not allow any form of corporal punishment, verbal abuse or any discipline that would involve withholding food, rest or toileting.

Health & Safety

If it is too cold or too hot outside, can my child stay inside?

Keeping children safe and healthy is very important to Creative World day care centers. Outdoor activities provide an important time for children to engage in physical activity while building their large muscles. Children should play outside for thirty minutes twice a day to give them fresh air and opportunities that only outside times can provide. The covered porches and shade structures on all of our playgrounds provide shelter from the sun, wind and cold allowing the children to enjoy their time outside on those days the weather is less than ideal but still falls within the guidelines.

Will my child play outside during extreme weather?

Creative World follows the state license guidelines for outdoor play, which take into account the heat index, air quality rating and wind chill factor. If the weather is falls in the extreme of these indicators, children will participate in gross motor activities in their classroom.

How does Creative World handle potty training?

Teachers in the toddler and two year old classrooms work closely with parents to determine when a child is ready to start potty training both at home and at school. Children are encouraged to regularly attempt to use the toilet or just to try as they are just starting out. As the child experiences more successes, you and your child's teacher will decide when to move from diapers or pull-ups to training pants. Each day you will receive communication that will share each time your child attempted the potty and all their success.

What if my child becomes ill during the day?

At the first sign of illness, the staff at your child's school will contact you. Our schools closely follow the license regulations on exclusion of children due to health issues. If your child's symptoms are any of those listed, you will be asked to pick up your child. Often, the calls are just courtesy calls that let you know how your child is feeling and give you an opportunity to contact your child's doctor, pick up your child a little early, or make alternate plans for child care the next day.

What if my child has food allergies?

At Creative World, we want to ensure every child's safety. If your child has any food allergies please notify the school immediately so we can add your child to our school allergy list. Our menu is available for parents to review. Substitutions will be made when possible; however parents must provide a substitute if one is not available.

What if my child takes medication?

Medication, including any over the counter products, can only be administered with the written permission of a physician. In addition, a medication form must be filled out by a parent. Please help us secure all medications by handing the medicine to a member of management so we can lock it in our medication box.

Mealtimes

Why do Creative World children eat lunch in their classrooms?

Our teachers purposefully enjoy "Family Style" meals with their children during lunchtime. This is a time of bonding and conversation in a familiar space as well as a great opportunity for the children to learn and practice table manners. Children are able to transition and get ready for their meal by helping set the table and have the time to eat at their own pace. Children are not rushed to finish in order to accommodate another group coming in to a lunchroom. Cafeterias are very efficient for older children, but young children benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere and the freedom to pace their meal.
