This month, the children will be engaged in a number of letter writing activities. They will write letters together during large and small group times and will be encouraged to write letters as part of their play.
To engage your child in a fun literacy event, write a note or send a card to a friend or family member this month and let your child help! Talk to them about what you are doing and ask if they would like to draw a picture or write their own note (a dictation or help from you with spelling out words). Or maybe they can put on the stamp or seal the envelope. They can also help to sort the mail, which is another great way to encourage literacy. Of course, everyone likes mail, so talk to a relative or one of your child’s friends about exchanging letters (pictures or dictated letters) so your child can receive mail!
